[Kulamoya] - a variation on the translation of 'wind-song' or 'maidens breath' in some African languages. We thought it an appropriate name as we love the sound of the wind in the trees around us and the breeze, as it blows in from the Kranz.
Get away from it all and enjoy a relaxing and rejuvenating stay at Kulamoya in McGregor. Our little guest cottage epitomises all you would expect from a secret hideaway, far from the madding crowds. Take time to slow down and unwind as you find yourself in a little haven of tranquillity and listen to the breeze and the birdsong in this very private garden.
Kulamoya sleeps two people very comfortably in an extra-length, queen-sized bed with pure cotton linen. A reading area is made up of two comfortable armchairs and a table. The compact en-suite has a shower and all the little extras you may require. In the kitchenette, you will find a fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle as well as all the usual cutlery and crockery essential for preparing light meals. While the cottage is pleasantly cool in summer, for those chilly, bracing winter months you will be kept warm and toasty with a goose down duvet and an oil heater.
A delicious home-cooked breakfast may be served on your private patio in summer, and in winter and cooler weather we can serve it in the relaxed, laid-back atmosphere of the main house in front of a blazing log stove. We are also able to offer you a Banting breakfast (as endorsed by Prof. Tim Noakes) should you wish.
The garden is full of little nooks and crannies to explore and delight in. It is largely indigenous, but not entirely. The back garden has an intriguing labyrinth around which you can walk and meditate. Go through the gate in the back stone wall and step directly onto the Krans Nature Reserve, where there are several trails to follow on the Krans, which lead to lookout points where you can gaze back over the entire village and to the glorious mountains beyond. If you look closely, you will discover many different little succulents among the rocks. Nothing beats a walk here to clear your mind!
PS: We also have a wonderfully light filled studio adjoining the cottage, so if you would like to do some painting , you are most welcome to join me there!
